Centenary Medal – Cathryn Jackson

My association with the School of Nursing began as an RN returning to complete my baccalaureate degree in 1985; since then I have continued as a teacher in the undergraduate program and clinical skills labs, as a graduate of the MSN program, a member of faculty, and up to my role today as the Associate Director of the Undergraduate Program.  During my time with the School I have worked under 6 school Directors; seen the implementation of 5 BSN curriculums and the launch of the PhD and NP programs; and contributed to the education of approximately 4000 BSN graduates. I am proud to be a graduate of the UBC School of Nursing and grateful for the mentorship and support I received to grow and expand as a teacher and scholar. The school has a long tradition of excellence in research, scholarship and teaching and it is my distinct honour and privilege to serve the School’s vision, mission and mandate to produce graduates with the leadership qualities and skills to engage in and shape health care practice and delivery.
