Centenary Medal – Kristyna Gustavson

Kris Gustavson is the Corporate Director of Accreditation and Patient Experience at the Provincial Health Services Authority. She is responsible for oversight of the Patient Care Quality Office and for supporting activities related to quality, safety, accreditation and patient experience across our province’s specialized hospitals and services. Kris is a two time graduate from UBC Nursing – with both her BSN and MSN degrees. Kris is a (nursing education approval program) site reviewer for the BC College Nursing Professionals and is a surveyor with Accreditation Canada, with work experience nationally and internationally on five continents.

Kris is past president of the UBC Nursing Alumni Association and Registered Nurses Foundation of BC.  She was elected to the Executive of the BC Lower Mainland Chapter of the Canadian College of Health Leaders in 2010, and will receive the Distinguished Service Award in 2019. In 2011 Kris was appointed to the Board of the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia and in 2013 to the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice Board. Kris serves as Expert Faculty for the Canadian Patient Safety Institute’s Knowledge Translation and Implementation Science. Her joint appointment as Adjunct Faculty with the UBC School of Nursing maintains her currency with academia, and bridges her commitment to knowledge and service.

Kris continues lifelong learning by completing the UBC, Sauder School of Business Certificate in Strategic Management in 2007, a Fellowship with the International Society for Quality in Healthcare in 2014 and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) – Not-for-profit certificate program in 2017.
