Centenary Medal – Vivian Blake

Vivian entered the Nursing Program at UBC and graduated from VGH in 1950 and then from UBC in 1952 earning a BSN degree. She joined the faculty of the VGH School of Nursing and taught Anatomy and Physiology for 5 years. She loved teaching and is still in contact with many of her students.

After marriage she became a Volunteer for many organizations and endeavours including the VGH School of Nursing Alumnae and the VGH Auxiliary – serving a term as President of both. She was on the Board of Trustees at VGH from 1982-1991 and served as Chairman for the 1986-87 term.

As a member of the Alumnae Building Society she pressed to see the profits of the sale of Alumnae Manor be distributed to agencies to provide Nursing Bursary funding – VGH/UBC Foundation, UBC, and RNABC.
