Levona (Sleen) Bell (BSN ’61)

April 10, 1939 – September 15, 2023

Levona, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away at the age of 84 in her Vancouver residence. She is survived by her husband, Leon, their two children, Jason (Elizabeth) and Geoff, and their three grandchildren, Hudson, Findlay, and Sienna. Levona was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard in 1975 and Hazel in 2001, as well as her brother, Murray (Nancy), in 2003.

Born on April 10, 1939, in Drumheller, Alberta, Levona’s family relocated to Calgary shortly after her birth. It was there that she spent her childhood years. Levona made the journey to Vancouver after completing high school, aiming to pursue a nursing degree at UBC. Fate brought her together with Leon, her soulmate, during a Nursing vs Home Economics football game. Following her graduation, Levona devoted herself to helping the community as a dedicated community health nurse. However, her focus shifted when she became a devoted mother to their two children. The family spent countless summers creating cherished memories at their cottage on Bowen Island, surrounded by loved ones.

In accordance with her wishes…those who wish to pay tribute to her extraordinary life can consider making a donation to a charity close to their hearts, such as Diabetes Canada. Alternatively, acts of kindness towards those less fortunate would also honor her compassionate spirit.
